I am lucky to have been born in Mexico City in 1972.
It was the year of “flower power” and a period of revolution.
My parents were both journalists who spent a number of years working abroad, including Mexico. They later moved permanently to Santiago, Chile.
Santiago is the city where I grew up during the military dictatorship.
In 1995 I graduated from the University of Chile with an arts degree.
The following year I went to Germany for further studies at the Hochschule fur Bildende Kunste Hamburg.
It was a great experience learning about conceptual art. I also helped to renovate an old warship on the river Elbe and to create an art gallery.
A few years later I moved to Florence, Italy, the perfect place for a budding artist. I started work painting portraits, landscapes and individual projects by special order.
At present I work for the Iris Garden Society in Piazzale Michelangelo, Florence.
I do photographs of the international competition of iris breeders who are invited to create a red iris.
The red iris in a white field as shown in the society’s banner does not actually exist.
